Kappa Xi Zeta History

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. first became visible in Syracuse and Central New York in 1979, when members who resided locally, noticed the community was in need of programming that addressed gaps in education and youth development.  Committed to promoting the Sorority's principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood, the Kappa Xi Zeta Chapter was chartered on January 31, 1981 by these seven courageous women:

  • Dr. Myrlene M. Jones

  • Elizabeth A. Sweezey

  • Alice Gwendolyn Kirby Machua

  • Thelma Sutton Eudell

  • Beulah N. Jackson

  • Cassandra Wigley

  • Rebennie S. Wilson
